Working on this PSA with my teammates was one of the most collaborative and rewarding experiences of the course. From the beginning, we were intentional about choosing a topic that felt meaningful, not just to us personally, but also socially. We agreed that raising awareness about Indigenous-informed approaches and the importance of decolonial perspectives was something that needed to be voiced more clearly, especially in academic spaces where these conversations are often overlooked or misunderstood.
The process of creating the PSA taught me a lot, not just about the topic itself, but about teamwork, communication, and how to translate complex ideas into something accessible and impactful.
We each brought different strengths to the project, whether it was researching, scripting, editing, or sharing ideas. It felt less like dividing tasks and more like building something together. We took time to check in with one another, made space for creativity, and stayed open to feedback throughout.
What I learned from this experience goes beyond technical skills. I learned how to work collaboratively in a way that honors everyone’s voice. I learned that advocacy can be quiet and visual, and that even a short message can carry deep meaning. Most of all, I learned how powerful it can be when we align our learning with our values.
